The big effort today was meeting with Mikki over at OFI. I showed her the interface I made for measuring sharks and she was enthusiastic about its potential. We also talked through her web hosting history and (not surprisingly) it's been rough. We'll have to figure out if it's worth switching over to a site I create or not.

We also looked at the laser hardware she has. She's got a build in progress and it's tough to align. It's primarily PVC and she has set screw hole at each end of the laser holder. That's 8 holes to capture 6 degrees of freedom. Plus she has two laser pointers that have to be parallel, so that's 12 DOF with 16 holes. We talked through ways to improve that setup. Unfortunately, she didn't quite have all the hardware we needed to test things, so she'll be on her own for this build as it's got to go out the door before we meet again.

At home, I looked through the code again. I also looked at JavaScript options for rectifying images. I'm a little surprised that I haven't yet found a library to do it as it seems like something people would need on a somewhat regular basis in the science community. And this community is a big supporter of Open Source.
