Plastic Friday: 11 Oct 2019

Two things going on in the last week.

1. Went up to Georgia and French pass this last weekend. At the top of Georgia pass, we found a bunch of plastic looking "wiffles" of some sort. It seems like they might be related to clay pigeons in some way because the pass was littered with shot clays and these plastic things. I went around and picked up a bunch of them as well as some of the usual plastic trash like bottle tops. The picture is a little fuzzy because my old camera phone didn't want to focus on it.

French pass was surprising clean. We only found two plastic bits from a granola bar. As a side note, it was a 40/30 day, meaning that it was 40 degrees and 30 MPH winds at the start of our hike up French pass. It was bright and sunny, though, so the hike was good fun. Plus, nobody at all was around past the first little bit. We had the entire pass as far as we could see in any direction all to ourselves.

2. For my professional websites that I work on, I use Google Cloud. That's too expensive to host this blog and data on for my current budget. I was looking at Heroku as an option as it seems to be well-recommended and more affordable. My plan is to try and use this free blog for as long as possible and then see about making the jump over. The biggest issue with this blog is that it's time-sequential so I don't have a good way of organizing the site by software/databases/posts etc...
